Hello everyone, this is Ichikawa from the makeup team. Today, I’d like to introduce a customer who experienced our Classic Oiran Sharaku Couple Plan. With the Classic Oiran Plan, guests can choose between “Natural Skin Tone Makeup” and “White Powder Makeup.” This customer selected White Powder Makeup, a traditional Japanese style that creates an elegant and authentic oiran appearance.

This photo was taken in the narrow streets and alleys known as “Roji”, which run between traditional buildings. Roji are a distinctive feature of historic Japanese townscapes. The Classic Oiran Plan is the only plan that allows photography in this location, making it one of the experience’s most popular highlights. The result is a beautiful image that captures the warmth and depth of traditional Japanese architecture.

Pairing a green kimono with an obi woven with abundant gold thread creates a look that is both glamorous and sophisticated. For her hairstyle, we selected the Traditional Date Hyōgomage Hairstyle and adorned it with numerous hairpins. The large number of hairpins symbolizes the high status of an oiran, creating an elegant and noble appearance.

In white powder makeup, red eyeshadow is traditionally used. This can also be seen in the makeup of Kabuki actors and Maiko. In Japan, red has long been regarded as a color associated with protection and good fortune, which is one reason it has been used in traditional makeup for centuries.

The deep green kimono chosen by our guest creates a beautiful contrast with the red makeup, resulting in a striking and memorable appearance.

This photo was taken using the optional Gold Leaf Background (¥2,750 tax included). The luxurious backdrop enhances the overall atmosphere and creates an especially elegant portrait.

Gentleman’s Sharaku Style

Next, please take a look at the gentleman’s photos.

He paired a haori featuring an ukiyo-e design with a vivid red kimono, creating a stylish outfit with strong visual contrast. Among the various props available for men’s photography, posing with a sword remains one of the most popular choices.

The Sharaku Plan also includes hairstyling and makeup. For this session, we applied foundation and subtle contouring to create a natural finish. Combined with carefully controlled studio lighting, the result is a powerful and striking portrait.

The colors of the kimonos chosen by both guests complement each other beautifully, creating a vibrant and cinematic atmosphere. The finished image looks as though it could be a scene from a movie.

This photograph was taken in front of the round window in our Japanese-style room. The Classic Oiran Plan offers much more than simply wearing a kimono. Guests can enjoy photography in traditional tatami rooms, roji alleyways, and the garden, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in Japanese culture.
